Suppliers and buyers of RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel) across Europe are constantly searching for reliable partners. We help bridge that gap. One example is the partnership between Powerday Waste & Recycling in the UK and the German energy plant Weener Energie. Not only did we connect them, but we also facilitated negotiations, drafted contracts, and ensured seamless and compliant shipments.
Powerday Waste & Recycling
Powerday Waste & Recycling Centre is a leading company in England specializing in recycling and waste management. Due to their rapid growth, they required a dependable partner for exporting their waste streams. In 2013, they approached us for assistance, and we’ve been working together ever since.
For Powerday, we manage the entire logistics chain, including export permits, customs procedures, transport scheduling, and full administrative support.
Jim Craig, Commercial Director at Powerday:
“Our ambition is to be one of the main players in RDF in the end, and one of our main partners to realize that is Cores. Paul Cobelens has good working relationships with the German and UK environment agencies, which is very helpful in sorting out issues or problems. The whole attitude of the company is very professional. User friendly and always available. They go beyond what is reasonably required.”
Weener Energie
Weener Energie is part of the Klingele Group, a European leader in sustainable (corrugated) packaging. The energy plant in Weener supplies heat and electricity to their paper mill, operating on secondary fuels like RDF. This reduces their dependence on approximately 32 million cubic meters of natural gas and primary energy, saving an impressive 55,000 tons of fossil CO2 emissions annually.
Karin Hillbrands, Procurement of Alternative Fuels for the Incineration Plant:
“The quality of RDF is most important for us. Cores is a reliable partner because they always offer material which fits our quality needs.”
Natascha Schieferstein, Colleague at Weener Energie:
“It’s important to have a proportional supply, as we don’t have huge storage possibilities. Cores handles the planning, orders, trailers, and all the contacts with the English suppliers and the authorities. We regularly discuss the daily amount of trailers, and Cores is always willing to adjust the system to make it even better for us.”
This collaboration exemplifies our ability to align the needs of suppliers and buyers, ensuring quality, compliance, and sustainability at every step.
